Tango Vesre

Austin, Texas! "Tango Vesre will explore the practice of men dancing tango with other men, a phenomenon that preceded by decades the tango we now identify so strongly as that between a man and a woman."

Queer Tango in Buenos Aires

On a recent trip to Buenos Aires I explored local tango events that would satisfy and benefit the LGBT/Queer tango dancer traveler. Of course, visiting during major organized queer tango events is best, but what is offered the rest of the year? Following are just some resources one can avail and have a thoroughly positive and memorable queer tango adventure.

All the classes I attended were bi-lingual (Spanish and English). In each mainstream class setting I enrolled and/or participated as a male follower, and my experiences with the organizers and educators were excellent and positive. At mainstream practicas and milongas, I made sure I went with friends rather than to rely on asking strangers who may have no interest in queer tango.

Mainstream Classes:
1. DNI. Teachers: Multiple teachers. Info: Facebook &
www.dni-tango.com
2. La Maria. Teachers: Corina Herrera & Majo Marini Info: Facebook &

3. Escuela Argentina de Tango, Centro Cultural Borges (inside Galerías Pacífico Shopping Mall). Teacher: Alejandro Figliolo Info: Facebook (for Alejandro) and

www.pdtango.blogspot.com

Mainstream Milongas* (Queer Tango Friendly*):
Plaza Dorrego in San Telmo. Sundays. Info: Facebook

LGBT/Queer Milongas:
1. La Marshall (twice a week at different locations) Info: Facebook &
www.lamarshall.com.ar
2. Espacio Tango Q Info: Facebook &

Queer Tango Events:

Certainly this list is not exhaustive, and certainly there are many teachers in Buenos Aires that are supportive of the LGBT/Queer Tango Student.

Wishing you Happy Holidays and outstanding tango adventures in the New Year!

Sincerely,
Marc SFQueerTanguero
